People want to do business with people they like. It’s as simple as that. The clients we’ve been fortunate to work with for many years are people we really enjoy spending time with.  Regular business calls touch on a personal note, lunches and coffees are more social than work related, and meetings are an opportunity to catch up face-to-face on business, as well as on life in general.

And this is the way it should be.  It can take time to get to this place, and a successful business partnership doesn’t necessarily depend on it, but it sure makes it more rewarding.  When you are in-step with someone, a trust develops and you are motivated to go that much further to deliver value.  When you build a business where you are surrounded by friends, what you do every day doesn’t feel like work.

Or perhaps this is unique to businesses in the public relations field where you work with a client on so many levels from helping them launch and grow their business to interview coaching — a process through which many barriers are broken down.
