Great Clips
Strengthening Local Brand Visibility Through Influencer and Media Engagement
The Challenge
For franchise-based brands like Great Clips, strong local relationships are essential to building awareness and trust within the communities they serve. For its entry to the Kitchener–Waterloo region, Great Clips needed a high-profile initiative that would generate meaningful visibility in the region while highlighting the brand’s community presence. The goal was to create compelling local stories and social content that could resonate while amplifying the brand’s connection to its franchise network.
The Strategy – What BlueSky Did
BlueSky developed a communications strategy that combined influencer engagement, media outreach, and social storytelling to maximize visibility around the initiative.
A meet-and-greet with celebrity Monster Truck driver Bryce Kenny created a moment of excitement that brought together Ronald McDonald families, local government officials, and franchisees. The experience was captured on video to generate engaging social media content that extended the story beyond the in-person gathering.
To amplify the initiative further, BlueSky partnered with Canadian media personality and influencer Rick Campanelli, who attended and shared the experience across his social channels. This combination of influencer storytelling and targeted media outreach helped generate strong visibility across the Kitchener–Waterloo region.
The Results
The campaign delivered strong awareness and local media engagement:
- 14.9 million impressions across earned and social media
- 29 media placements in local news outlets
- Influencer-generated social coverage extending reach across regional audiences
The Impact
By combining influencer storytelling with targeted media relations, BlueSky helped Great Clips build stronger connections within the Kitchener–Waterloo community while reinforcing the brand’s relationship with local franchisees. The campaign demonstrated how community-focused stories can be amplified through strategic communications to generate both local visibility and brand goodwill.
